May

May 20, 2025 12:00 p.m. Partnership to End Homelessness Donor Learning Series

In today’s uncertain political and economic environment, the Partnership to End Homelessness is committed to protecting the progress that DC has made in preventing and ending homelessness in our city since 2020. We are deeply concerned that with the end of pandemic assistance programs, many DC residents are already struggling economically and having trouble maintaining their housing. In addition to private sector resources and investment, like those through the Partnership, public sector commitment is essential to our work. That’s why advocacy for public sector resources is an important part of our strategy to ensure that all our neighbors have a safe, stable, affordable place to call home. We know that this investment matters – we saw significant reductions in homelessness and housing instability during the pandemic, when additional funding and support was available for vulnerable residents. We also know that even all of the philanthropic resources combined would never be able to match or replace public sector investments. Join us on May 20th at noon for a virtual opportunity, to network, ask questions, and hear from a panel of experts in the housing justice and affordable housing space.

March 20 at 2 p.m. NAVIGATING UNCERTAINTY: A CONVERSATION WITH NONPROFIT LEADERS

Nonprofits across the country, but especially right here in the Greater Washington region, are facing a challenging and uncertain landscape. Many are preparing for a period of financial uncertainty as they grapple with federal policy changes and potential loss of grant funding, budget shortfalls, and inflationary pressures, all while anticipating an increase in demand for their services due to federal funding cuts and layoffs that are hitting our region especially hard. Our panel of nonprofit leaders from Ayuda, Capital Area Food Bank, Pathways to Housing, and Whitman-Walker shared important insights into what’s at stake and how they are adapting to these significant challenges and threats. Panelists emphasized the importance of advocacy, collaboration, and innovative responses to the crisis that recognize many of these issues and our responses are interconnected.
