We will rapidly deploy donated funds as grants to nonprofits working tirelessly to support our most vulnerable residents -- those who are experiencing an urgent, unexpected need associated with the coronavirus. As the weeks pass, we anticipate that the hardship on individuals and families will intensify, and our use of these prompt response funds will evolve as this crisis evolves. The Fund’s focus will be to help communities who are disproportionately impacted by the virus and its economic consequences. The Fund is designed to complement the work of public health officials, as COVID-19 is a public health issue, and as such, funding decisions will be made in consultation with them across our entire service area in Northern Virginia, which includes the Counties of Arlington, Fairfax, Loudoun and Prince William, and the cities of Alexandria, Falls Church, Fairfax, Manassas and Manassas Park.
Block operating grants will be awarded to local nonprofits with deep roots in our community and strong experience working with our most vulnerable neighbors.
